What is Chantix / Champix?
Chantix™ (Varenicline) is a prescription medicine specifically developed to help adults quit smoking. Chantix gives smokers a better chance of success than Zyban®.

Chantix is different from other ways to quit. It contains no nicotine but works on the same receptors as nicotine. And it's the addiction to nicotine inhaled from smoking that makes quitting so hard.

How to Take Chantix
Choose a quit date when you will stop smoking. Then start taking Chantix 7 days before your quit date. This lets Chantix build up in your system. You begin by taking one tablet a day for three days, then increase to two a day until treatment is over. You can keep smoking during this time. Make sure you try to stop smoking on your quit date. If you slip, try again.

Some people need a few weeks for Chantix to work. Most people will keep taking Chantix for up to 12 weeks. Take Chantix after eating and with a full glass of water.

Many respected physicians have had words of praise for the drug called Chantix. Review of the cause for a great many deaths among adults of all ages reveals the reason for such praise. Every year, far too many adults die of lung cancer. Most of those adults develop that lung cancer because they have puffed on too many cigarettes.

A chantix review discloses the push for drugs that can treat dependence on cigarettes, a condition also known as nicotine addiction. Before the appearance of Chantix, all such drugs, except Zyban, provided the smoker with little more than a nicotine replacement.

A chantix review also discloses some unsettling facts about the sharing of medical information during the Cold War. The Iron Curtain prevented the spread to Free Europe and to America of medical knowledge acquired in Eastern Europe. For that reason, doctors in those countries did not hear about a substance named cystisine.

Cystisine can be made from the plant called Cystius laburnum. During World War II, soldiers who needed a nicotine fix, and who lacked the ability to get cigarettes, satisfied their cravings by chewing on the leaves of that plant. Later, manufacturers in Eastern Europe found a way to put the extract from those leaves, the cystisine, in a form that could be ingested by smokers.

For four decades the smokers in Eastern Europe had access to a drug that could help them to overcome their nicotine addiction. A chantix review will show that during much of that same time period, physicians in the United States struggled to find techniques that could help some of their patients to stop smoking. Now that the Cold War has ended, those doctors welcome the appearance of chantix tablets.

In the early part of 2006, smokers and physicians held their breaths as the FDA studied the results of clinical trials on chantix. Such trials had shown that chantix worked three times better than a placebo, when used by smokers who hoped to quit smoking. As a result, a chantix review reveals that the FDA approved use of chantix in May of 2006.

Smokers who talked with their physicians about using chantix learned that it did not offer them an overnight solution. The patient taking chantix must commit to adherence to a prescribed schedule. The patient initiates treatment with a low dose of chantix, and then the patient gradually doubles the frequency and the size of the dose that the patient takes daily. After a 12 week treatment, the patient should be free of his or her desire for nicotine.

The gradual increase in the drug dose during a chantix treatment regimen helps the patient to avoid discomfort due to nausea. Other concerns relating to chantix derive from the drug’s effect on the excretory system. Patients who have kidney problems or patients who are on dialysis should consult their doctors before taking chantix.

If you are searching desperately for a way to stop smoking, then you should take the time to read a number of chantix reviews.
